Closure of the Inner Circle Therapy Centre
It is with some sadness that we must advise that Regent's
College will be winding down the Inner Circle Therapy Centre. The
planned closure date is the 31st August of this year.
Over the last few years, the College has embarked on a very
positive and exciting strategic plan to increase the number of
programmes and students on the campus. In addition it has,
and is undertaking considerable improvement to the campus
facilities for students as shown in the new library, the
postgraduate centre, the new student union facilities, and the
conversion of Acland to classrooms.
This strategy has entailed some re-shaping of the College’s
activities, such as the phasing out of most of the conference and
room hire business in order to provide more classrooms and offices.
The strategic growth of the College, HASS and SPCP necessitates the
need for good office space where teaching staff feel properly
accommodated and where students and staff can meet
appropriately. Unfortunately, this means the College must,
finally, use the space taken up by the Therapy Centre.
Three-Month Notice Period
Although this is a sad aspect of the changes, the SPCP’s new
courses alone (new professional doctorate and
BSc courses) will necessitate accommodation for new staff. The
College is very aware of the huge impact this will have on those
with practices at the Centre and wishes to provide a period of
three month notice to give time to advise clients and relocate
practices. In view of this, we request users to avoid new bookings,
and we will ourselves cease assessment activities and
referrals.
Over the period of August and September the suite will be
refurbished and linked through to the Regency rooms to be ready,
hopefully, for use by new staff at the end of September. As
building works, ideally, need to start in August we would
appreciate confirmation of your booking requirements for that month
as soon as possible.
We should like to assure you this has been a decision that has
not been taken lightly or without due concern for those members of
staff, therapists and clients using the Centre.
For More Information
Please let us know if you have any questions or major concerns
with the implementation of the plans and we will attempt to take
them into account.
Furthermore, the College confirm that the provision of a student
counselling service will continue and that plans are in progress as
to where and how this will be organised. An announcement about this
will be made in due course.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation in this
important change.
