Welcome from the Acting Head Of School
Thank you for your interest in the School of
Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology (SPCP). I hope that you
will find our programme of courses interesting and stimulating and
that you will decide to join us for a productive and worthwhile
period of study and training.
Having established its international
reputation as one of the UK’s leading therapeutic training
institutions, SPCP aims to provide a wide-ranging and thorough
professional training and academic education in psychotherapy,
counselling and counselling psychology, at all levels from
Foundation to PhD. The School is now developing psychology degrees
to provide the opportunity to people to study with us from
undergraduate to postgraduate level. Our faculty are recognised for
their commitment to excellence in their field and have made
significant contributions to it.
Our courses are demanding as well as
enjoyable. We believe it is through hard work in a spirit of
questioning and critical investigation that worthwhile results are
achieved and you can be sure that taking an SPCP course will be a
challenging, intense and rewarding experience. Studying and
training here has made a decisive impact on the lives of many of
our students.
If you have begun your training elsewhere and
are considering transferring to SPCP your existing qualifications
will be considered in relation to our own training and, subject to
a satisfactory interview, they may well enable you to join our
courses at advanced points of entry.
The prospectus should answer most of
your questions, but if you need further advice in choosing the
course best suited to your particular needs and objectives contact the School's Administrative Department or
come to one of our regular Informal Advisory meetings to have your
queries answered. We look forward to your application and hope to
be able to welcome you, after a successful interview, as a student
in the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology.
