Professor Amedeo Giorgi
Professor Amedeo Giorgi is an
accomplished Phenomenological Psychologist. He is the originator of
the method that he will be presenting in this workshop.
Amedeo Giorgi began his teaching career in the early 1960’s at
Duquesne University, helping to develop their newly launched
graduate program in existential-phenomenological psychology.
He noted that the more generally humanistic paradigm emerging in
the 1960’s tended to focus on content areas neglected by
traditional psychology and what was needed was a different approach
to theory and method. Phenomenology has offered such a possibility
of founding Psychology as a fully Human Science.
He authored, edited and co-edited a great number of books,
articles, and journals. Amedeo Giorgi has also taught at the
University of Quebec, Saybrook Institute and gave over five hundred
presentations on all inhabited continents.
