Sponsorship & Loans

A number of organisations may offer you financial assistance. Details of these can be found in the Directory of Grant Making Trusts, published by the Charities Aid Foundation.

A useful starting point for is your local British Council office, or the Direct.gov website.

Loans for UK Residents

Loans for maintenance are granted to those resident in the UK for three years directly through Student Finance England.

Loans for EU Nationals

Nationals of non-EU countries resident in the UK may also qualify for support and should contact the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) to determine whether funding from this source will be available to them, including assessment for a student loan.

New Students Applications

• Find out what student finance is available to you and apply now!

• You don’t need to have accepted a place at university or college to apply for student finance.

• When you apply, remember your application isn’t complete, and cannot be assessed, until all the information we need is provided.

• If you are disabled or have children or adult dependants, you can apply for non-repayable grants.

• Visit Direct.gov for more information and to apply. There is also a series of ‘how to’ videos to help you.

Continuing Students Applications

Continuing students who have applied previously and received a loan for non-means tested finance will, for the next academic period 2011/12, be processed by Student Finance England automatically if your circumstances haven't materially changed. You will simply need to sign and return the form you will receive from Student Finance England.
