Confidentiality, Therapy and the
Law
School of Psychotherapy & Counselling Psychology
presents a half day course entitled, Psychotherapeutic
Conversations - " Confidentiality, Therapy and the
law".
This is a popular and highly participative half-day workshop,
designed to clarify the key aspects of confidentiality that relate
to, for example, data protection law, the counsellor’s duty to warn
others, disclosure of records and enforced access to notes by third
parties such as solicitors, police and the courts. The workshop is
based on short scenarios, discussion and brief outlines of the law
in non-technical language, with maximum opportunities for dialogue
and follow-up questions.

College Tuke Building, Room T006.
Peter Jenkins
is an experienced counsellor trainer, and author of several
books on the law, including Counselling, Psychotherapy and the Law
(Sage, 2007). He has extensive experience of running training
workshops on legal aspects of therapy. He is a Senior Lecturer in
Counselling at Salford University, a BACP Senior Accredited
Counsellor Trainer and an honorary counsellor at Manchester
University Counselling Service. Formerly a member of the BACP
Professional Conduct Committee, he is currently a member of the
UKCP Ethics Committee.
