Short Course: Inner Circle Psychotherapeutic Conversations

Confidentiality, Therapy and the Law

School of Psychotherapy & Counselling Psychology  presents a half day course entitled, Psychotherapeutic Conversations - " Confidentiality, Therapy and the law".

This is a popular and highly participative half-day workshop, designed to clarify the key aspects of confidentiality that relate to, for example, data protection law, the counsellor’s duty to warn others, disclosure of records and enforced access to notes by third parties such as solicitors, police and the courts. The workshop is based on short scenarios, discussion and brief outlines of the law in non-technical language, with maximum opportunities for dialogue and follow-up questions.

Friday 13th June 2008, 1.00pm -4.00pm at Regent’s College Tuke Building, Room T006.

Peter Jenkins is an experienced counsellor trainer, and author of several books on the law, including Counselling, Psychotherapy and the Law (Sage, 2007). He is a Senior Lecturer in Counselling at Salford University, a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor Trainer and an honorary counsellor at Manchester University Counselling Service. Formerly a member of the BACP Professional Conduct Committee, he is currently a member of the UKCP Ethics Committee.
