Biography

Dr Betty Kyprianou Rudd is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Specialist Teacher. She retired as Press Officer for the BPS DCoP and has appeared in films, TV and radio. She is named as an expert in NVC and Emotional Literacy by the BPS and is listed in ‘‘Who’s Who in Research’, ‘Who’s Who in Health’  and ‘Who’s Who in the World’ for her outstanding contributions in her field of endeavour and thereby contributing to the betterment of society.

PhD and Doctoral Research Supervision and Examining

  • Current; four doctoral students at Regent’s College, all subjects are within the field of Counselling Psychology.

  • Past: approximately 70 students at masters level (all research subjects within the field of Counselling Psychology; and approximately 20 students at post masters and doctoral levels (all subjects within the field of Counselling Psychology).

  • Extensive.Examiner for the BPS (was on Board of Examiners, later known  as Board of Assessors, until retirement) Qualification in Counselling Psychology, since its genesis and continuing in this role.

  • External doctoral examiner for universities e.g. London Metropolitan, Wolverhampton and City Universities.

Current Research

  • Counselling in one’s native-tongue while abroad, awareness, body-image, wounded healer.

Completed Research  

  • How children understand (undergraduate quantitative research)
  • Communicating empathy, congruence, warm acceptance and unconditional regard non-verbally (master’s combined methodology research).
  • Cross-cultural, gender,  therapeutic approach and power dynamics
    within the counselling psychologist and client relationship (doctoral combined methodology research)
